What Are Goatheads?

Goatheads (also known as Tribulus terrestris or puncture vine) are an invasive species that can produce up to 5,000 horned nutlets on a single plant. These nutlets latch onto animal fur, shoes, bikes, cars, trucks, and tractors to spread their seedlings far and wide. It’s believed that goatheads were brought to the United States on the wooly backs of sheep and have wreaked havoc on our bicycle tires, puppy paws and natural environment ever since.

Please check back in March 2024 to learn more about goatheads & picking before Boise Goathead Fest!
